Using branded product and lifestyle images taken by a professional photographer for your website is vital in 2021 to attract the right type of clients to your online business, fast. Did you know clear colourful in focus images will keep people more engaged online than if those products lifestyle images were out of focus and drab?

So how do you ensure that you are conveying the right messages that help sell your products?

For me, your product or lifestyle imagery includes a number of essential photos that you can use to portray your goods throughout your website, landing pages, online shop, business cards, and any other social media or networking platform to gain the attention of your ideal client.

I call these your visual assets and not many business owners have a compelling set of up-to-date images especially when the media comes knocking on your door.

Here are a few tips on the right type of branding images to use online :

        1. 1. When ensuring the right look for my client's lifestyle images, natural lighting is key! If your images don’t have sufficient light, you may just end up looking rather outdated and dull – possibly a little off-putting to your clients!
  1.
  2. In addition, avoid any type of harsh lighting as this can bring attention to frown lines. A great image of you will help sell your products through connection. It's important to highlight the trust-building features of you the vendor, like your smile or eyes. Let’s see your passion and authentic connection!
  3.
  4. 2. For a great product image, make sure your product is clearly visible. No distractions near the items. A clear shot of your product will also assist you in selling more as it will convey professionalism.
  5.
  6. Remember - People like to feel like they can trust you before they’re willing to go out on a limb and purchase your product or services. So they want to see updated product shots online, light well.

  1. 3. Make sure that you take the time to dress your website with eye-catching lifestyle photographs, especially if you’re trying to brand an online business. Branding largely relies on the trust that you build and having an unkempt website is one of the surest ways to do the exact opposite.
  2.
  3. 4. For example, style your product in a professional manner that suits the theme of your brand. Your photographer should produce a quality set of images for your brand. Make sure you ask to see the photographer's portfolios ahead of time to ensure they’re suited for the job

  1.
  2. 5. Ensure your personality is shining through in your lifestyle images. A good photographer should be able to capture this easily for you. If you do this correctly, you will successfully connect with your clients because you will come across as an authentic person – not just some face they recognize from the Internet.
  3.
  4. You’ll know when you’ve achieved this level of authenticity by the way your clients interact with you, and the way they recommend you to other people.

To make sure you’re getting started in the right direction, use a professional photographer who is experienced in online marketing and brand photography. Although you may see this as a pricey expense at first, in fact, it's an investment in future-proofing your business.

There is a huge difference between your friend taking a quick phone shot and a professional photographer providing you with a branding kit full of media-ready marketable images which include the right lighting, angles. Overall you want products that will sell online regularly, due to the brand photography.
